Letters From The Principal

End of Term Autumn Letter 2011

Dear Parent/Carer

The autumn term will end at 1.30 p.m. on Friday 16th December 2011.  The spring term will start on Tuesday 3rd January at the normal time of 8.10 a.m.  May I thank you for all your support throughout this term which has seen an increase in our attendance rate and a significant decrease in the number of exclusions both reflecting a very positive attitude toward learning by the overwhelming majority of pupils at the College.  I am very pleased by the way in which our pupils and students have settled in to the new College arrangements and I do expect this to result in a significant improvement in attainment and progress by all year groups.  I am also pleased with the standard of school uniform; members of the public and visitors to the College frequently comment on how smartly our pupils are dressed and this must continue.  The uniform policy is clearly stated in your child’s planner; please remind yourself of it and ensure that you send your child to school properly dressed at all times.

As you will have noticed we have had real problems in providing a good website facility since we have moved into the College.  I do apologise for the poor service.  I am reliably informed that the issues have now been resolved and that we will have a good and informative website available from the start of the spring term.

The autumn and winter weather has been good to us so far this year but I have no doubt that the weather will deteriorate as the winter proceeds.  Hopefully the weather will not be as appalling as it was last year but in an emergency I will ensure that messages are updated on the website for you to keep in touch.  As the weather deteriorates please ensure that your child’s uniform does not; there are no circumstances whatsoever where hoodies are acceptable and if you are buying a new winter coat for your child please make sure that it complies with the uniform code.

May I wish you a very happy and peaceful Christmas holiday and I look forward to working with you in the spring term.

Yours sincerely

M J Murphy
